Softball Game Preview: Roxbury Gaels vs. Morris Knolls Golden Eagles

Roxbury and Morris Knolls are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Gaels will head out on the road to take on the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Roxbury's offense. They fell 5-0 to Watchung Hills Regional on Saturday. That makes it the first time this season the Gaels have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Morris Knolls came tearing into Friday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 4-1.

Morris Knolls' win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Roxbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Roxbury beat Morris Knolls 11-7 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gaels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
