Basketball Recap: Tuscaloosa Home Educators Takes a Loss

Tuscaloosa Home Educators played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Evangel Christian Lightning, falling 65-35. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Lightning are ranked 66th).

Tuscaloosa Home Educators' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Glisson, who posted 11 points. Warren Pate was another key player, putting up ten points.

Evangel Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Asa Wagoner out in front who went 7 of 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wagoner a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Joiner, who had eight points and eight boards.

Tuscaloosa Home Educators has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Evangel Christian, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Tuscaloosa Home Educators didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-50 win against Tabernacle on the 16th. As for Evangel Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Ezekiel Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ezekiel Academy will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Evangel Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
