Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Apaches vs. Morningside Monarchs

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Morningside. The Apaches are taking a road trip to challenge the Monarchs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Centennial took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Morningside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Apaches came out on top in a nail-biter against the Monarchs on Monday, sneaking past 8-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Apaches as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.

For Morningside's part, Alexander Diaz was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Diaz a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Edison Macias was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ramon Gonzalez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Morningside is on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 4-18.
