Baseball Recap: Lockport Triumphs

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Lockport and Bradley-Bourbonnais have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Porters walked away with a 5-2 win over the Boilermakers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 on Monday.

Jeffrey Bruining looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Adam Kozak was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Flood, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lockport's record is now 15-8. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Lockport will be playing at home against Joliet Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Porters 4.1, the Hilltoppers 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, they will head out to challenge Bishop McNamara at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Fightin' Irish will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Boilermakers surely won't give up without a fight.
