Basketball Recap: The Vanguard School Sets Scoring Season-High Against Woodland Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask The Vanguard School). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 75-11 victory over the Woodland Park Panthers. The Coursers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

The Vanguard School's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Christensen, who shot 88% from the field to rack up 28 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Christensen's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points. Lily Blanchard was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 15 assists.

The Vanguard School was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Woodland Park's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Phillips, who posted five points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Phillips a new career-high in points.

The victory (which was The Vanguard School's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points on average over those games. As for Woodland Park, their loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-22.

The Vanguard School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-28 win against Manitou Springs on the 28th. Woodland Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
