Football Recap: Newton-Conover's Rushing Dominance Continues

Newton-Conover had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt Foard on Friday. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Tigers. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Newton-Conover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Timothy Mehalic led the charge by picking up 115 receiving yards and two scores. Mehalic was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 53 yards. Another back making a difference was Jeremiah Pope, who rushed for 118 yards on only 13 carries.

Newton-Conover was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Newton-Conover's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Foard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
