Softball Recap: Newberry Triumphs

Newberry was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Bradford Tornadoes by a score of 17-13. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Olivia Tharp was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Chloe Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Newberry hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradford struck out eight times.

Newberry's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Bradford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberry will head out to square off against Buchholz at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Bradford, they are taking a road trip to challenge Keystone Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
