Baseball Recap: Rock Port Has No Trouble Against North Nodaway

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rock Port). Everything went their way against the North Nodaway Mustangs on Thursday as Rock Port made off with an 18-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Jays in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

Rylan Hunter made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hunter was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Rock Port got a massive performance out of Tayden Cook, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Cook posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Westyn Amthor, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Rock Port always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Nodaway only posted an OBP of .167.

Rock Port's record now sits at 3-1. As for North Nodaway, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Rock Port wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against West Platte on the 29th. As for North Nodaway, they will head out on the road to take on Stewartsville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
