East Central came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Stone Tomcats. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by exactly two runs.

Abby Danis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breyona Tanner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Lizzy Kennedy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

East Central pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Stone, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-8.

Coming up, Stone will take on Laurel at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tomcats are facing the Golden Tornadoes at the right time seeing as the Golden Tornadoes are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. East Central will be paying especially close attention to Stone's contest: after Stone faces off against Laurel, they'll take on East Central again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
