The Rosman Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Owen Warhorses at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Madison hit Rosman with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-7. The Tigers have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Savannah Green made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Blaikley Zuccala was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Owen entered their tilt with Avery County two weeks ago with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Elly Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Neal, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Bryanna Stafford also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Owen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Owen pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rosman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Rosman suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to Owen when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
