Basketball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Bernalillo Spartans

Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Bernalillo Spartans 69-28. The Vikings were down 51-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Bernalillo found their leader in sophomore Samaria Brown, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and eight steals. Brown is becoming a predictor of Bernalillo's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 5-1 (and 4-12 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kailani Trancosa, who posted eight points along with seven assists and three steals.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Bernalillo, they moved to 9-13 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
