Slippery Rock hasn't had much luck against Sharon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockets will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m.
Slippery Rock fell victim to Hickory and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Hornets. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Slippery Rock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Sharon entered their tilt with Jefferson Area on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Madelyn Vogan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alauna Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Marley Bundrant, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Sharon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson Area only managed three hits.
Sharon's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Slippery Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
