Football Recap: Karnes City Badgers vs. Nixon-Smiley Mustangs

After losing to Nixon-Smiley the last time they met, Karnes City decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Karnes City Badgers breezed by the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs to the tune of 41-14 on Friday. The Badgers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Karnes City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Savion Nixon-Thompson out in front who threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 71 yards. That's the most rushing yards Nixon-Thompson has posted since back in September. Syrhian Alaniz also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Despite the loss, Nixon-Smiley had strong showings from Joe White, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Julian Amaya, who rushed for 68 yards. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 52 yards.

Karnes City's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Nixon-Smiley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
