Baseball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-7 to the Sotomayor WILDCATS. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Holmes saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Geller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Geller a new career-high. Another was Aiden Torres, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Holmes has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. Sotomayor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season.

While Holmes had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
