Basketball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lincoln Southwest can now relate to. They had to suffer through an 87-49 loss at the hands of the Omaha Westside Warriors. The match marked the Silver Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lincoln Southwest lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Uzziah Sanders, who went 5-for-12 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makkiah Sanders, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Emre Gedik continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Omaha Westside, shooting 59% from the field on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Jack Shafer also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

With the loss, Lincoln Southwest broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-10. As for Omaha Westside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Lincoln Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Omaha Westside, they have already played their next match, a 56-52 win against Lincoln Southeast on the 14th.
