Softball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-17 to make it nine. They lost 17-10 to the Sullivan County Griffins. The Redskins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Griffins earlier this season, when they won 13-9.

As for Sullivan County, they now have a winning record of 9-8. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Sullivan County's part, Emilia Viveiros was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. Viveiros has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mariah Hallabuk was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Bailey Smith was another key player, going 1-for-6 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Sayre does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sullivan County has already played their next matchup (against Benton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
