Football Recap: Brookhaven Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Brookhaven Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 38-34 W over Simpson Academy on Friday. For Brookhaven Academy, this counts as revenge for the 49-20 victory Simpson Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Simpson Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braxton Baldwin, who rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 185 yards and one TD. Kolt Walker was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards.

Brookhaven Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Simpson Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Brookhaven Academy will head out to face off against Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Simpson Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Parklane Academy at 7:00 p.m. The Pioneers' defense has only allowed 9.4 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
