Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Sam Rayburn's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Sam Rayburn was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Trenton Tigers. For the Rebels, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2016.

Jamison Dorris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he hit this season.

Dorris wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cash Mason, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Sam Rayburn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. Trenton's loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sam Rayburn will take on Dodd City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Dodd City has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.71 runs per game on average), something Sam Rayburn will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Trenton, they will challenge Tioga at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
