Softball Recap: Cole Camp Gets the Win

Cole Camp won the last time they faced Tipton and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Birds walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Cardinals. Considering the Blue Birds' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Emma Thayer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenidy Farnham, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Kaitlyn Whitworth was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Cole Camp was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton only posted a batting average of .323.

Cole Camp's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Tipton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Cole Camp will head out on the road to face off against Green Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tipton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Leeton at 5:00 p.m.
