Preview: Normal West Wildcats vs. St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans
Normal West has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Normal West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Normal West came up short against Richwoods and fell 58-47. While losing is never fun, Normal West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while Richwoods is ranked 94th).
Loss or not, Normal West got some senior leadership from Taylor Hafermann who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds and Nate Moore who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Moore is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Maliq Givens-Smith , who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph-Ogden put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 74-42 win over Oakwood on the road. St. Joseph-Ogden might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matches by 32 points or more this season.
Normal West now has a losing record at 2-3. As for St. Joseph-Ogden, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
