Baseball Game Preview: Mishawaka Marian Knights vs. South Bend Washington Panthers

Mishawaka Marian has gone a perfect 8-0 against South Bend Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will host the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mishawaka Marian came out on top against Jimtown on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Knights walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Jimmies.

Ryne O'Hara was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Mishawaka Marian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Maloney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Bend Washington). Everything went their way against South Bend Riley on Saturday as they made off with an 11-5 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Wildcats since April 15, 2016.

South Bend Washington's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Mishawaka Marian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Mishawaka Marian took their win against South Bend Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
