Preview: Atlanta Rabbits vs. White Oak Roughnecks
The Atlanta Rabbits will be playing in front of their home fans against the White Oak Roughnecks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Atlanta suffered a tough 49-29 defeat at the hands of Jefferson. While losing is never fun, Atlanta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 625th, while Jefferson is ranked 192nd).
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jayden Riley, who picked up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Riley's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Austin, who rushed for 138 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to White Oak, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They were outmatched by Tatum at home and fell 49-15.
White Oak's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaxsen Ludlow, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Gavin Sipes who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Atlanta's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-2 Brook Hill (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.9% over those games). As for White Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Atlanta strolled past White Oak when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 32-15. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was White Oak's Noah Carter, who picked up 117 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Atlanta to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
