Basketball Recap: Sterlington Comes Up Short

Sterlington lost against Ouachita Parish back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sterlington Panthers fell 77-68 to the Ouachita Parish Lions. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Lions are ranked 21st).

When it comes to explaining why Sterlington lost, don't look at Cooper Nelson. Despite the final result, he posted 31 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaven Evans, who went 5 of 12 en route to 17 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Sterlington and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Ouachita Parish, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Sterlington has already played their next matchup, a 64-61 win against Montgomery on the 16th. As for Ouachita Parish, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-64 victory against West Monroe on the 17th.
