Baseball Game Preview: Reedsville Panthers vs. Random Lake Rams

The Reedsville Panthers will face off against the Random Lake Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Reedsville comes in on five and Random Lake on four.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Reedsville and Roncalli meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Panthers came out on top against the Jets by a score of 4-1.

Kodie Bubolz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Bubolz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Christensen, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Carter Preston also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Three must be Random Lake's lucky number: they beat St. John's Northwestern Military Academy with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Rams beat the Lancers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1.

Reedsville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Random Lake, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Reedsville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Random Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
