Basketball Recap: Center Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kylie Hubbard and Journee Smith

Center suffered their closest loss since February 2nd on Friday. They fell just short of the Pollok Central Bulldogs by a score of 52-49. The Roughriders have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Center had strong showings from Journee Smith, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 14 points and four steals, and Kylie Hubbard, who posted nine points and four steals. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Edneeuna Barnes, who put up 12 points.

With the loss, Center broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-6. As for Pollok Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Center will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tatum at 6:15 p.m. Center has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Pollok Central, they will head out to take on Diboll at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pollok Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
