Volleyball Recap: Rock Island Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Rock Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Geneseo Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maple Leafs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Rock Island sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-19.

Kaelynn Gbenyo paced Rock Island's offense, picking up 11 kills. Gbenyo got some help from AJ Stewart and her 25 assists. Addy Lincoln and Ava Carlson kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.

Rock Island's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Geneseo, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Rock Island will head out to face off against Orion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Geneseo, they will venture away from home to take on Sherrard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
