Baseball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bishop Rosecrans had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Wellington School Jaguars get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Bishops: when they faced off against the Jaguars on April 2nd, they had to take a 6-5 loss.

Not much got past Jacobie Balo, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Wellington School off the board. Balo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bishop Rosecrans' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Perdue, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Perdue has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Bishop Rosecrans' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wellington School, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bishop Rosecrans is set to take on their familiar foe Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bishops 3.2, the Rockets 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Wellington School will face off against rival Grove City Christian at 5:05 p.m. on Monday.
