Softball Recap: Vienna Has No Trouble Against Hardin County

Vienna's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Hardin County Cougars as Vienna made off with a 15-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Vienna got a great performance from Lily Lingle as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Lingle also tossed two walks, marking her first of the season.

At the plate, Ayva Rush was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Casey Norris was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Vienna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Vienna's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hardin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vienna will welcome Anna-Jonesboro at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Vienna will need to watch out since Anna-Jonesboro has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Hardin County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hardin County Cougars challenge Meridian Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on April 2.
