Baseball Game Preview: Gig Harbor Tides vs. Peninsula Seahawks

The Gig Harbor Tides will venture away from home to face off against the Peninsula Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Gig Harbor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Gig Harbor's offense. They fell just short of Central Kitsap by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tides have suffered since April 15, 2024.

Peninsula couldn't beat Capital on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Seahawks fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6.

Michael Tellez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Kainoa Coit also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gig Harbor fell to 17-1. As for Peninsula, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5-1.

Gig Harbor beat Peninsula 6-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tides since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
