Recap: Plainview Pirates vs. Osmond/Randolph Hawks
The Plainview Pirates waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Osmond/Randolph with points to spare, taking the game 43-25. Given Plainview's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Osmond/Randolph is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abbie Kromarek was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Plainview's points. Madelynn Dougherty was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Osmond/Randolph still got an impressive performance from Keli Aschoff, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Aschoff pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Wagner, who scored seven points.
Plainview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Osmond/Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
Plainview will be playing in front of their home fans against Wausa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wausa is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Osmond/Randolph, they will face off against Homer at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Homer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday.
