Preview: Florence Gophers vs. Palo Verde Titans
The Florence Gophers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Palo Verde Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Last Friday, Florence took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 46-17 win over Chino Valley. The win was just what Florence needed coming off of a 72-31 loss in their prior match.
Florence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keylee Scarbrough, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Wimmer, who scored 6 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-25, which was the final score in Palo Verde's tilt against Walden Grove on Wednesday. Palo Verde has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Miami's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Florence's loss dropped theirs to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Florence against Palo Verde in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 59-24 win. Will Florence repeat their success, or does Palo Verde have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
