Baseball Recap: Gillespie Find Success

The matchup between Gillespie and Civic Memorial on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Miners walked away with an 11-8 win over the Eagles. This was payback for the Miners, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Luke Schuckenbrock, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Gillespie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Jack Kaylor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
