Recap: Belen Eagles vs. Miyamura Patriots
The Belen Eagles''s ten-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They strolled past Miyamura with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. For Belen, this counts as revenge for the 21-7 loss Miyamura walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Derian Rodriguez, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Rodriguez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Logan Gonzalez was in the mix as well, providing Belen with two touchdowns.
Belen's victory bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Miyamura, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7.
Belen will take on Piedra Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Miyamura, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Highland is ranked 49th, while Miyamura is ranked 61st).
