Basketball Game Preview: Willow Spring Storm vs. Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs

The Willow Spring Storm will take on the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Southeast Raleigh will be up against a hot Willow Spring squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Willow Spring secured a 65-61 W over Fuquay - Varina on Friday. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Bengals are ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Willow Spring had a senior duo take command as Brady Williams went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points and six rebounds and Grant Overman dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Overman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 36 times he's played. Another player making a difference was JyMont Kizer, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Southeast Raleigh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 70-66 to Garner.

Southeast Raleigh dropped their record down to 8-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Willow Spring, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
