Baseball Recap: South Adams Takes a Loss

South Adams extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-19 in the process. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northeastern Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Starfires of the 7-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Derek McKean was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Kaleb Minger was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Northeastern, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Northeastern's side, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Kress, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Kress a new career-high.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northeastern beat South Adams by a score of 8-4 later that day.
