Softball Recap: Kennewick Lions vs. Kamiakin Braves
Kennewick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. Their rough 13-3 loss to the Kamiakin Braves might stick with them for a while. Kennewick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kamiakin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Addyson Schuldheisz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayce Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
On Kamiakin's side, Lizzie O'Leary was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. O'Leary has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. O'Leary was even better at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kamiakin got a massive performance out of Harley Worster, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and a double. Brookelyn Cole was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Kennewick's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Kamiakin, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat Kennewick by a score of 15-0 later that day.
