Mariemont posted their closest win since August 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Deer Park Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-97) Mariemont actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 14-25, 15-10.

Leading Mariemont to victory were McKinley Wise and Audrey Gaughan. Wise had nine digs and two aces, while Gaughan had 13 digs.

Despite the loss, Deer Park still got an impressive performance from Grace Louden, who had 39 digs and three assists. Louden has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last five times she's played. Riley Carr was another key player, getting ten digs.

Mariemont's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Deer Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Mariemont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Taylor on the 21st. As for Deer Park, they will challenge Cincinnati Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
