Recap: King's Academy Lions vs. Maryville Red Rebels

The King's Academy Lions had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 54-48 W over Maryville. Given King's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Maryville is ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brady Branam continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Skylar Walden was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

King's Academy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Maryville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King's Academy and Lakeway Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lakeway Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Sunday. Maryville and Bearden will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bearden is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
