Baseball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Takes a Loss

Knoxville Catholic lost against Baylor back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fighting Irish took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Raiders.

Manny Maurer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Knoxville Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 14-10-2. As for Baylor, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

While Knoxville Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
