Football Game Preview: Mountain View Yellowjackets vs. Melbourne Bearkatz

Mountain View is 1-6 against Melbourne since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the Bearkatz at 7:00 p.m. Mountain View has given up an average of 40.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mountain View is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 47 points back in October, they were much more limited against Salem last Friday. They had to suffer through a 78-0 loss at the hands of the Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Greyhounds are ranked 44th).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Melbourne against Episcopal on Friday as the team secured a 55-8 win. The contest marked the Bearkatz's most dominant victory of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Melbourne and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Things could have been worse for Mountain View, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-14 loss to Melbourne in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
