Basketball Recap: Orangeburg Prep Skates Past Andrew Jackson Academy with Ease

Orangeburg Prep won the last time they faced Andrew Jackson Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Orangeburg Prep Indians simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors 83-56. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Avery Ravenell was his usual excellent self, putting up 40 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Orangeburg Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tilden Riley, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 boards.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oliver Barnes, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Hayden McClung, who posted 13 points.

Orangeburg Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Orangeburg Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Thomas Sumter Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orangeburg Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Thomas Sumter Academy likes a good challenge. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Holy Trinity Classical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrew Jackson Academy is facing Holy Trinity Classical Christian at the right time seeing as Holy Trinity Classical Christian is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
