Softball Recap: Doddridge County Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Doddridge County proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Gilmer County Titans 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 26th.

Tessa Mayle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Doddridge County let Olivia See and Brooke Dehaven run wild. See scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Dehaven scored two runs and stole three bases. See is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Maysun Gagnon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Doddridge County pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gilmer County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Doddridge County will square off against Williamstown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Gilmer County, they will take on Tygarts Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
