Basketball Game Preview: Estancia Bears vs. Santa Rosa Lions

The Estancia Bears will face off against the Santa Rosa Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Estancia: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home, while Santa Rosa has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.

Estancia is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Pecos on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Estancia was outmatched by Pecos and fell 89-42. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-24.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Daniel Hernandez, who posted seven points. What's more, he also posted two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jerin LaJeunesse, who put up eight points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Santa Rosa faced off against Pecos on Saturday. Santa Rosa fell to Pecos 71-67.

Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Santa Rosa, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-4.
