Soccer Game Preview: Maine West vs. Lincoln Park

The Maine West Warriors will face off against the Lincoln Park Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Maine West is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Maine East on Tuesday. The Warriors fell just short of the Blue Demons by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Maine West came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Maine East are ranked 205th).

Maine West's goal came courtesy of Bryan Garcia, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park came up short against Solorio on Wednesday and fell 3-1.

Lincoln Park's loss dropped their record down to 8-6-4. As for Maine West, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-4-2 record.

Maine West was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln Park in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
