Softball Game Preview: Gainesville Hurricanes vs. Springstead Eagles

The Gainesville Hurricanes will square off against the Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gainesville is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Gainesville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Belleview get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

McKenna O'Sullivan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

O'Sullivan wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lockerman, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Springstead posted their closest win since March 26th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Deltona, sneaking past 1-0.

Gainesville pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Springstead, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
