Beecher hasn't had much luck against Lincoln-Way Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bobcats will take on the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Beecher sitting on seven straight wins and Lincoln-Way Central on 12.
Beecher will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Providence Catholic on Thursday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Celtics by a score of 12-9.
Ava Lorenzatti was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lorenzatti was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Beecher got a big performance out of Elena Kvasnicka, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Kvasnicka has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Alexa Gliva, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lincoln-Way Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Andrew 2-1.
The team relied heavily on Ellie McLaughlin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Lincoln-Way Central's victory was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Beecher, their record is now 28-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beecher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lincoln-Way Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Beecher couldn't quite get it done against Lincoln-Way Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
