Basketball Game Preview: El Capitan Eagles vs. Fredonia Lynx

The El Capitan Eagles will take on the Fredonia Lynx at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. El Capitan will be strutting in after a victory while Fredonia will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, El Capitan turned things around against Greyhills Academy on Monday. They blew past the Knights 37-15.

Ruth Timpson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 19 points and five steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of El Capitan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincie Hammon, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Fredonia's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Red Mesa at home by a 50-35 margin.

El Capitan will have to keep a close watch on Danni Waters and Neveya Estrada, a pair of players who had a big impact on Fredonia's prior game. Waters dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Estrada had 12 points. The dominant performance gave Waters a new career-high in boards.

Fredonia's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for El Capitan, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

El Capitan suffered a grim 49-29 defeat to Fredonia in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can El Capitan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
