Baseball Recap: DeKalb Comes Up Short

DeKalb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sycamore Spartans. The Barbs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

DeKalb got a good showing from Lukas Stubblefield, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, DeKalb saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nik Nelson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Nelson has launched this season.

DeKalb's loss dropped their record down to 16-7-1. As for Sycamore, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Looking ahead, DeKalb will host Neuqua Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sycamore, they will venture away from home to square off against Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
