Baseball Recap: Dresden Comes Up Short

Dresden dropped down to 10-9 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Jackson Christian Eagles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-8 back in March.

As for Jackson Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Jackson Christian's part, Brian Cornelison tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits.

At the plate, Kevin Basham was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Brody Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dresden will challenge Halls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson Christian, they will face off against Tipton Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
