Baseball Recap: Richmond Raiders vs. Porter Ridge Pirates

There's no place like home for Richmond, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Porter Ridge Pirates on Friday, sneaking past 7-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2016.

Caden Nolan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Nolan was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Evan Hodges was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Landon Taylor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The win got Richmond back to even at 1-1. As for Porter Ridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Richmond wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-4 defeat against Weddington on the 1st. As for Porter Ridge, they will head out to square off against East Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
